Hi everyone!

We just wanted to pop on here to share a lovely family session that we had the other day! This family photo session was a mix of extended family with their own personal families as well which made for such a fun evening capturing some sweet memories of their family reunion for a beautiful Ventura sunset at the beach. It’s always a bit tricky to find a date that works for everyone, but if you can make it happen it’s a perfect way to get some great memories of everyone together. It also allows us to get some lovely memories with each individual family, as well as the sweet candid photos of everyone having fun with each other in between.

This family has a special place in the hearts reserved for the beaches in Ventura here! Most of them now live in Camarillo or Simi Valley area and they are always so stoked to get back to the coast and smell the salt in the air again at last. We really love this beach in particular in Ventura because it really offers up a dynamic and unique selection of backgrounds to play around with throughout a family session, engagement photos, heck – we’ve even done some really magical weddings at this beach too! So if you’re in search of the perfect beach to get some really fun family photos that also look really clean + different – we’ve got you! There’s also plenty of dunes to run down for some really authentically fun candid moments with all the kids, as you’ll see in the gallery to follow. 🙂

When we do extended family photo sessions, sometimes it may feel like a lot of effort to get the whole family together, dressed in half-decent clothes (maybe they willingly wear a shirt that doesn’t have the dinosaur on it, maybe they don’t, right?), and all the while still be in the spirit to smile endearingly at each other despite the conversations or lack-of conversation held in the car on the way there. Of course this isn’t always the case, but let’s be honest – getting 15 folks + 5 kids together and out the door can be a bit tricky! Please know that we have all the understanding and patience in the world for you and are gratefully celebrating you for just making it to the beach! From the moment you arrive for your photography session, just do your best to leave everything else from the day behind you and be present with each other. We will be sure to lighten the mood and get everyone having fun throughout! Remember, this can be a fun outing at the beach – family photos does not have to be a chore! For the most part, we are just cruising around the beach together, snuggling and playing in the sand. We promise, there is no pressure to be anyone other than yourselves! Let go and enjoy this moment that you all get to share and have fun creating some sweet memories together!

We really enjoyed this one! This family photo session really was a great balance of some relaxed, sweet moments cuddling up with each other, to some fun candid moments running down the beach with each other!
